Transition to Net Zero

We are in a fight for our lives. The decades of fossil fuel use have nearly crippled our environment and started on a globally effected change in weather patterns and atmospheric temperatures. These changes cause impacts across all structures of our existence and we are seeing them in effect already. Rising temperatures change precipitation levels causing food production shortages. Extreme weather changes mean many species – including ours – will have trouble adapting. We will experience conditions like heat stroke, disease, mental health, respiratory and cardiovascular problems to name a few.

The Government of Canada’s page on the effects of greenhouse gas emission (https://www.canada.ca/en/environment-climate-change/services/environmental-indicators/greenhouse-gas-emissions-drivers-impacts.html) cite the economic impacts from changing weather patterns will affect agriculture, forestry, tourism and recreation. Bridges and roads will erode and sea levels will rise due to thawing permafrost. Human health impacts will cause increased demand on health and support systems.

We have finally started to take the transition to net-zero emissions seriously. If that wasn’t the case, life on this planet would reach its finality far sooner than nature may have intended. The transition to a cleaner environment is a necessity. But we must accept the hard truth that is a transition.

Such changes cannot come about over night and many of the ‘coalitions’ out there who believe the first response is to simply shut off the oil and gas industry altogether don’t seem to understand how much of the products they use on a regular basis just wouldn’t be without oil and gas.

Hence why we embrace transition.

Mankind is accepting the challenge to find new resources and technologies to replace current polluting energy sources. Let’s face facts, nearly everything we do creates carbon footprints, and they have for years already. Everything requires energy. Even producing energy requires energy to produce it.

With the Net-Zero Emissions Accountability Act (https://www.canada.ca/en/services/environment/weather/climatechange/climate-plan/net-zero-emissions-2050.html), Canada has vowed to reduce carbon emissions by 2050. The bold move, which became law on June 29, 2021, has since gained global recognition and the new standard toward environmental responsibility. Making the commitment displayed immediate recognition of the fact that we needed to do something to ensure future generations would have clean food, clean water and clean air to nourish themselves on.

Evolution Power Projects was established for this reason. We believe in transitioning toward natural gas alternatives of mobile power supply. Natural gas to electricity micro grids replace up 15 diesel generators per site and eliminates diesel usage by up to 5000 litres per day. They are scalable and efficient using compression and turbine technology generators suitable not only lease sites but across industries.

When comparing emissions controls, on an energy equivalent basis, natural gas emits 30% less CO2, 90% less carbon monoxide, 95% less nitrogen dioxide, 90% less particulate matter, and 99% less sulfur dioxide than diesel. That is a considerable difference and a positive advancement towards net-zero.

So many countries are now committed to making our world a better place for the betterment of everybody. We all know energy production is a must and it must continue to maintain our economy, but we now fully recognize that the emissions caused by energy production is no longer tolerable. A news article on EnergyNow.ca (https://energynow.ca/2022/06/energy-company-execs-say-fossil-fuels-important-in-energy-transition/) stated that liquified natural gas is a key product for the energy transition.

Together, we will make the change.
