The story of the story…

It was around 2007 when this book happened but it began many months before. As a new writer, I was full of anticipation and ideas and after getting a little practice with short stories and poetry, I figured I was ready to take on the project of a full novel. Granted, some ingredients to the craft were missing but my enthusiasm remained and I finished it. After some time, I learned more about writing and rewrote the book after discovering more holes than an Alberta highway, then I learned some more and rewrote it again.

Now it’s several years later and I have several writing courses under my belt and several writing projects on the go. I still intend to rewrite this one with my current level of knowledge so – while this one is still available – you may want to grab a copy as once I have completed the rewrite, it will only exist on my shelf.

Here is the original synopsis:

There are dragons in the world. There are goblins, beasts and trolls. Magic and darkness lurk in the hearts of men who seek power. When life is given to legend, what hero will stand and fight? What power will rise to quell the fire of Anderoth’s Dragon? The dwarves unleashed it first, ages ago from the depths beneath Locksly Sur Anon and it was Lord Anderoth who drove it back under the earth with the Trident of Norcule. The dwarves fled to a new home, their tower left abandoned and the story turned to legend. The dragon, nearly forgotten. But the greed of one man claimed the old tower, now known as Locksonon, and made an alliance with the Torokka goblins to remake the dwarf weapon craft to fill his desire for riches. But the Torokka cannot be so easily controlled and they killed a curious party from Morthonesse, including the heir to the throne. Seeking justice, his younger brother, Corbin, runs away to seek aid from the elves and finds a grouchy wood troll named Bark. But can they discover the truth behind the secrets of the tower… And if Anderoth’s Dragon yet lives?
